MHA in Ulster County, Inc. has a Full-time position (37.5 hours per week) working in the Harbour Light therapeutic foster care program coordinating the planning & treatment for approximately 6 youth. The Family Specialist interviews youth, reviews and maintains records, performs individual child assessments, oversees development of the treatment plan, maintains frequent contact with the birth family and youth and consults with Teaching Foster Parents on an ongoing basis while providing a source of personal support.
The Family Specialist also provides case work including CSE and IEP reports, coordinates services and advocates for the child with community agencies, schools, mental health agencies so that the youth can benefit despite behavioral difficulties. This position requires being on-call.
• A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field and 2 years experience working with children.
• A combination of education, professional, and life experience needed to identify and respond to the needs of emotionally disabled children, their birth families and professional foster families.
• Knowledge or experience with assessments, treatment plans, and advocacy
• A clean valid NYS driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience.
